Description
Pieces of Formula 1 cars this large and in this condition rearely come up for sale. This large, impressive carbon-fibre barge-board is a test piece fitted, probably to the Honda RA108, or Brawn 001 before development work was completed and the paint scheme applied for the season. It shows signs of wear, but is in remarkable condition with the carbon-fibre weave clearly visible, along with the mounting points to the car. The piece is clearly marked with a build rumber, showing ‘Issue No.1’ confirming this was a test piece, first run.
The Honda F1 team was going through a major development stage during 2008, with the recently appointed Ross Brawn now as Team Principal – a season that would eventually lead to Honda pulling out of Formula 1, and along with Nick Fry, the acquisition of the assets that would form Brawn GP and win the 2009 Formula 1 World Championship for Jenson Button and the team.
This impressive piece has a great story and forms a small but significant part of F1 history, the barge-board has been hand-signed by Ross Brawn and Nick Fry, by us at a corporate event, and comes with a Certificate of Authenticity.
